It seems only fitting since we have covered Katy Perry's new single 'Roar', that we should also feature Lady Gaga's new song 'Applause', after all they will be going up against each other on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week. So, in case you didn't already know, Lady Gaga announced on her twitter earlier today that she was going to release Applause one week early due to an abundance of reasons (hackers, leaks etc.) and thus, here it is. The new single is an upbeat dance pop track dedicated to living for the 'applause' i.e. the performance, singing and the reaction from fans. (Listen below)
It's a welcome return for Gaga to music after a significant period of time in the pop world. It's difficult to tell who will come out on top in this 'battle' the media has created between Perry & Gaga, however, I think Gaga may have the edge having been absent for so long, as people may be more eager to hear her new track and the rest of the highly anticipated 'ARTPOP' album.
