Katy Perry has officially released her new song, online today on her vevo channel on YouTube. The new track, 'Roar' is a mid-tempo pop song that could be argued as one of Perry's strongest; focusing on self-empowerment, the anthem features the repetition of 'roar' with 'louder than a lion' and is more of a celebration after having won the war. As the promos for the track have suggested, this particular tune focuses on the past having 'fell for everything' and 'stood for nothing' and that now she has gained a greater sense of wisdom and knowledge from her experiences and can defend herself. The lyric video (below)
features a mix of (i)phone usage communicating with other friends via lyrics of the song and Perry going about daily activites (getting out of bed, eating, going to the gym etc). The video is best described as an emoticon-overload which features varying colourful backgrounds of lions, strawberries, astronauts, arrows and lightning. It's certainly one of the more interesting lyric videos. The video also ends with a cat. Standard, right? If this is what Perry comes up with for a lyric video then god only knows what the music video has in store for everyone. Only time will tell, I think overall the track is pretty infectious, give it a couple of listens and you'll probably be singing along. Unless you don't favour pop as a genre, in which case I'd look elsewhere. However, I'm sure Perry fans will be pleased with this latest release (although technically leaked 2 days ago) as they get to see something somewhat new from the California Gurls artist.
