The Naked And Famous - Hearts Like Ours

New Zealand post-punk revival band 'The Naked And Famous' have recently released their music video for the track Hearts Like Ours, (taken from their upcoming album In Rolling Waves) and it's everything you could have possibly expected. Whimsical, imaginative and thought provoking, matching the track perfectly. The track manages to capture and emulate a sense of vulnerability through Alisa Xayalith's beautiful vocals which hit and glide through Short's, Beadle's, Wood's and Power's instrumental composition. The lyrics stir up particularly vivid imagery and it's satisfying to see 'The Naked And Famous' have followed through on this in their music video (particularly fond of the smoke dancers and the eerie twins).

If you haven't yet seen it, I recommend you watch the music video (above). The video opens to a swarm of bees and cuts to various imagery such as a person on a bike, a person facing a wall and smoke all around. It's rather peaceful as a person falls into a pool and floats ominously, cue more smoke and people floating. Then come the eerie twins.
There's so much to take in and marvel at in this video that you won't want to look away at fear of missing something (although if you're afraid of any form of spider imagery you'll want to look away quickly after the first 'logger' appears on the scene). All in all, it's almost too much to describe. It's really something that should be seen first hand to appreciate. The imagery, framing and tone is fantastic though. It certainly has that 'summer escapism' type of feel that I have mentioned before in other videos, but the vocals are so different that it really sets it aside from the rest. If you're a fan of post-punk revival, indie or synthpop then this will surely be the one for you.
