Rihanna - Pour It Up (Official Music Video) [+ Review]

Oh god. Oh god, oh god. I can't really say I didn't know what was coming, so I sort of expected this. In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, and the title didn't give it away enough, Rihanna has released her highly stripper-central music video for her song (if you can call it that) 'Pour It Up.' Let's just say I have mixed opinions. The music video, which you can watch below, features RiRi in usual states of undress (which she's entitled to wear) and doesn't really feature anything you wouldn't see in a male hip-hop/rapper's video anyway, but still, people are no doubt going to go wild about it. Personally, I just find the video bewildering and the track itself kind of dull and repetitive.

As said before, the video features a whole lot of strippers, poles and water - right. I suppose it's what you would expect from a song about strippers. So, no real surprises there. As I've already mentioned, if you're looking for an intense, complex, narrative, in a video or strokes of lyrical genius - then this probably isn't for you. In fact, the song is pretty generic and Rihanna sings about the usual - money and sex. Because, that's clearly what the world revolves around.

If you're being critical about the actual track, it doesn't really have a monumental or recognisable chorus, features relatively no hook - and doesn't feel like it goes anywhere. I'm sure people will disagree, but this most definitely isn't Rihanna's best. I'm hoping the song will just fade into the background. It's also highly repetitive - which really grates after a while - Throw it up/ throw it up/ that's how we ball out. Although, Rihanna does have one line which is probably true - who cares how you haters feel/ and I still got more money.

Yes, she does still have her money and she will make money from people watching the music video or listening to the track, even if only to comment something negative. So, er, well done Rihanna for making a video generated for publicity for a track that is (less than) average. But of course, what did you think? Are you a fan/not a fan of the song/video?
